Calculating the slope is crucial in determining the height of the curb walls. These walls elevate the structure above ground level, preventing water intrusion and enhancing durability. Additionally, curb walls reinforce the foundation, providing a stable base for framing. When building on uneven terrain, they help level the structure by adapting to the land’s natural contours.

Key Elements for a Strong and Stable Concrete Foundation
Proper curing prevents surface defects, increases durability, and enhances the overall performance of the concrete. In the first 7 days of curing, the concrete undergoes various visual changes as it dries and absorbs water. White spots may appear due to a chemical reaction that contributes to the concrete's strength. It's important to observe this process without disturbing it, as the color typically evens out after 7 days. Additionally, it's crucial to avoid parking a car on the pad during the first 30 days to ensure the concrete gains its full strength and stability. To prevent cracking as the concrete settles into the ground, control joints should be cut after 7 days of curing.

Backyard Disturbance
Disturbance of your backyard is an essential part of the garage project, particularly for ensuring electricity is supplied to the garage. The trench is dug at the start of the project and must remain open until the electrical inspection is passed. Once the trench is refilled, avoid landscaping until the ground has settled and is topped up with gravel or soil. Standard 2x4 framing is suitable for a typical garage; however, modifications may be necessary when customizing wall height or door headers. A stronger LVL beam and 2x6 framing may be required to support additional loads. The span and direction of the roof trusses also play a crucial role in meeting proper weight requirements, ensuring structural integrity and stability.
Proper gapping of Oriented Strand Board (OSB) panels is essential to accommodate natural expansion and contraction due to moisture variations, thereby preventing structural issues such as buckling or warping. Manufacturers typically recommend a 1/8-inch (3 mm) gap between panel ends and edges to allow for this movement.

Fire Rated Walls - Upgrade dependent on Lot size & Placement
5/8" Drywall is required for garages within 2' of the property line. Other considerations may apply when placing the garage.
